Hydrogen Peroxide to Clean Carpet

I have spent most of the morning trying to get my hallway and some of the stairs clean from my little boy who had diarrhea, leaving a trail for me to know right where it happened.

I tried my Little Green Bissell Machine, a baking soda paste (which helped make it not so stinky!), but there were still pretty bad dark spots on my light carpet. I googled and found that hydrogen peroxide can clean stains out of carpet. I poured a little on the dark spots and let it sit for a few minutes. I did use paper towels to blot up some of the wetness and then used my little green machine do the rest. It worked on most of it. There are two of the darkest spots that are a lot lighter in color, and according to some websites if I wait they will continue to lighten up. I will wait it out and tonight may repeat the process on those two spots. I am pleased with the results, so if you have a problem give this a try.

Some tips:

Try a test area on your carpet first before pouring the hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Just in case it may bleach your carpet. It didn't affect mine and other blogs and web pages that suggested this method had success too without bleaching.

You can just use clean towels to pick up the extra wetness, place the towel over the area and apply pressure until the wetness of the carpet is satisfactory to you. You do not need to use a Bissell or other carpet cleaning machine. I just did because I have one and it was already out.

You may need to repeat the process. Some areas once was enough and some areas I had to do twice.

The Food Nanny

I watched the Food Nanny on BYUtv on Saturday and I really liked an idea she presented on planning dinners. She suggested having a theme night each night of the week. For example:

Monday - Italian Night
Tuesday - Traditional Foods or Crock Pot Night
Wednesday - Mexican Night
Thursday - Fish or Meatless night
Friday - Date Night/Pizza Night
Saturday- Grill Night
Sunday - Comfort Foods

I have been in a dinner rut lately, and I think this will help with meal planning. The Food Nanny plans meals two weeks at a time, to eliminate trips to the grocery store.

Another thing about having theme nights is to help your kids know what to expect for dinner and it supposed to help encourage the picky eaters to eat. They will know what kind of food to expect for dinner.

I started using Shortcuts.com again to load coupons on my shopper card. It was great I used two coupons yesterday at King Soopers and got a 4-pack of Fiber one yogurt for $1.00 and a 24.9 oz box of Lucky Charms for $2.44. I was hoping the $.55 Lucky Charms coupon would have doubled, but it didn't. If you do load coupons on your card expect that it will only count as the value and not double.

I planning a Safeway trip on Saturday to get Mott's Apple Juice $.99 (I am a little annoyed there is a limit of 2.) Cheetos, more cereal Quaker Squares, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Betty Crocker fruit snacks. Check out the coupon list to find coupons to match. I did load some coupons on my card, but since King Soopers didn't double I wish I hadn't loaded the Betty Crocker fruit snacks buy 2 get $.50 off. The same coupon is on the coupon printer on the left and my Safeway doubles, so if I bring in the paper coupon (you can print two coupons) it will be $1.00 off 2.

Nabisco Cookie Facebook Coupon

I am one of the 500,000. I printed the "free" Nabisco cookie coupon on facebook this morning.The coupon expires March 4 and you have to buy a gallon of milk and a package of Nabisco cookies to get your "free" cookie. I don't know how great of a deal this is, unless you buy Nabisco cookies regularly. I am going to try to stack a coupon with it that gives you $1.00 off when you buy two cookies, but I think it will really depend on the cashier I get if I can use it or not.

I did pick up my Peanut Butter at Albertson's. For my family a year supply is 18lbs, so I picked up 15 to complete my supply for the year. Watching the news lately makes me more eager to have my food storage up to par :) If you are just starting, get your 72 hour kits together first and then work on getting a 3 months supply of food--food that your family eats and your can rotate before it spoils. This is an email I received from a reader, Brooke. She has some good info. about where to get coupons to use for the current King Soopers sales. Also, checkout the blogs she recommends below.

Hi! I just found your blog through a google search. I've tried to leave a couple of comments, but it never works. Anyway--I also live in Colorado and was excited to find a "bargain blog" based here. I just wanted to let you know some other great bargains I found at King Soopers (City Market where I live).

If you have a Safeway nearby, they have some amazing coupon books with some great coupons to use at King Soopers. (King Soopers will accept competitors' coupons.) There's a coupon for 75 cents off Philadelphia cream cheese and one for $1 off any Nabisco crackers. So...with the "buy 10 and save $5" deal going on, the cream cheese is only 24 cents and the crackers are 70 cents a box. You can pick up a few booklets and buy a few of those items. Plus--there's tons of other coupons in the booklet you may want to use!

Also--I look at a couple blogs based in Idaho and they have some great links for some other coupons to print off and use. There's a 75 cents off goldfish crackers coupon that I used (King Soopers doubles it up to a dollar--so, the crackers become free--actually a 12-cent money-maker). Also, they had a link for a buy one, get one free sobe lifewater that makes 2 of them 25 cents a piece. It's nice to have some cheap filler items to get to your 10 items! :) There was also a link for $1 off 2 capri-suns. That makes the capri-suns 87 cents a box--that's a pretty good deal! There were several other links to coupons for items that go along with this deal.

The Gatorade on sale at King Sooper's for $.69 is a good price. Last spring they went on sale for $.50 ea. Wal-mart price seems to be between $.88 and $1.00 depending on what the local store sales are for the week. There was also a coupon $1.00 when you buy 2 Gatorade Jan 10 RP

Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits are $.99 each and there are coupons from the paper Dec 6, Dec 13, Jan 3, Jan 31 SS We like to use these biscuits for an easy personal pizza dinner!

Most of the items I wasn't impressed with the price points, but check the coupon list for more matches before you shop!

Nabisco Back to School Rebate

I mailed in my 2nd Nabisco $20 rebate today. I spent a total of $19.75 for 10 boxes of crackers, 5 Kraft Easy Mac, and 5 boxes of Capri Sun. The total is $.25 less than the rebate!

I bought everything at King Soopers this past week on their buy 10 save $5.00 sale and I had manufacture coupons to go with all the crackers. I used 2 $1.00 coupons from the Sunday paper and 4 $1.00 off when you buy 2 coupons that I received with the rebate form.

I love King Soopers mix and match 10 sale get $5.00 off. There are quite a few great deals on the sale. One of my favorites is Rotel for $.42! This is the only time of the year I know the Rotel price is this low, usually it is on sale for $1.00. I remember one time paying $1.99 for it when I needed a can for dinner!

Also, there were coupons in the Sunday paper for $1.00 off one box of nabisco crackers....be sure to check the coupon list for other matches for the mix and match sale!

Safeway Shopping and Coupon Mom

On the Today Show this past week I saw the Coupon Mom do her grocery shopping thing on tv. She walked out of the store with a cart full of groceries paying only $.25. This irritates me, because to me this is not reality shopping! First off I want to write that you never see produce, meats, or dairy in the grocery cart when they end with their phenomenal savings. Also, where do they get the coupons? A newspaper subscription costs money, buying coupons off ebay costs money, but they like to leave that part out of the story because it ruins the theme of $.25 for the cart full of groceries.

I DO CLIP COUPONS and FOR ME it DOES SAVE ME MONEY! I just want the coupon Mom and other grocery gurus out there to be realistic about how much money you save by using coupons and matching them with the store sales.

MY REALITY SHOPPING

Saturday, I shopped at Safeway and combing the store sales, store coupons, and manufacture coupons this is what I got:

Chocolate Cupcakes

I made chocolate cupcakes for my son's birthday today! I learned there is a difference between natural cocoa and dutch processed cocoa. In the processing of the dutch coca it is treated with an alkali that neutralizes its acid, so it is best to use this cocoa in recipes without baking soda. Go to joysofbaking.com for more information on the dutch processed cocoa.

If you use dutch processed cocoa, you may want to omit baking soda from the recipe. Below is the recipe and picture of the cupcakes I made with dutch processed cupcake! The adjustments are included for high altitude (above 4,000 ft.)

Chocolate Cupcakes using Dutch Processed Cocoa

2 cups (minus 2 TBS) of Sugar
1 3/4 Cups all-purpose flour
3/4 Cups Dutch Processed Cocoa
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup plus 2 Tbs. boiling water

Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add eggs, milk, and oil and mix for 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in boiling water--the batter will be thin.

Prepare muffin tins, by placing paper baking cups in each cup. Fill 2/3 full with batter. Recipe makes 24 cupcakes. Bake in a preheated oven 350 degrees for 20-22 minutes. Cool completely and frost with Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" frosting.

Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" frosting:
1/4 C. butter
1/3 C. Cocoa (dutch processed or natural)
1 1/2 C. powdered sugar
3-4 Tbs. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Melt butter and mix with cocoa. Add vanilla and then Alternately add sugar and milk until it is a spreadable consistency. Should frost 24 cupcakes with some leftover frosting.

Grocery Saving Tips- What I've learned

What I have learned the past year about saving money at the grocery store.

1. If it's not in your budget it is not on sale.

2. Sales repeat. It's okay to pass up a sale if it is not in your budget.

3. Know the best price for the items you buy most. For me it is things like diapers, wipes, milk, yogurt, crackers, chicken, ground beef, salad dressing, peanut butter, cheese, ice cream, butter, sugar, flour, etc... buy extra when it hits a low price. See the Price Points list on the menu bar for a guide.

4. Its okay to let coupons expire and throw them away. You will likely find the same or similar coupon in the next paper after the coupon expires.

5. Use Internet Coupons, but don't print unless you know you will use it.

6. Research all store ads. Price matching at Wal-mart or Target some weeks make sense--rather than running around to two or three different stores.

7. Meal plan before you go to the store. For me it works best to plan a week at a time. Which means 5 dinners, lunches (sometimes I use leftover dinner), and breakfast.

8. Protect your food. I hate it when a mouse gets in to the 10lb pancake mix or the Costco size chocolate chips. I keep my food storage in plastic containers in my basement to keep the mice out.

9. January is a good month to stock up on cereal. Cereal will go on sale through out the year on a cycle...try to stock up for enough cereal to last until the next sale. I haven't figured the exact weeks between sales, it may be a 12 week sale cycle.

10. Stick to your budget. I started a $150 rule with Costco. Using a list I identify the must haves and the items I can wait until next time to buy and I stick to the budget I set--(most the time-I am not perfect.) :)

King Soopers still has their buy 10 items get $5.00 off this week. I was able to do 3 rewards in single transaction.

Last week I picked up 6 evaporated milk for free using the Sunday coupons. See Coupon list to find out where to find the coupons. Also, 4 boxes of 9 oz Cheez-its for $.25 each (see coupon list for coupons.)

I have used evaporated milk a lot this past year. I use it to replace milk in most my cooking; Cornbread, soups (instead of cream I use canned milk!), homemade breads and desserts. There are many ways to use evaporated milk and it is a great thing for your food storage. It is only good for about a year, so you do need to use it!

Albertson's has some great deals this week. I am going to buy 32 load Tide for $4.00 each (after promotion, but not including manufacture coupons.) Also, I will pick up some Pillsbury flour 5lbs for $1.00.

I just sent in my Nabisco rebate. To get the $20.00 rebate you have to buy 10 boxes of Nabisco cookies or crackers, 5 boxes capri suns, and 5 Easy Mac. I spent $27.85 so after rebate it will be like I paid $7.85 for all 20 items.

There is still time to do the first rebate it ends in December. Also, there is another rebate from January-June. All you have to do is save recipe ts (no cutting out UPC's)

Tide 64 load liquid detergent $8.88 and Charmin Basic 12 Big Rolls $4.49 (Go online to King Soopers and get $1.00 Tide coupon and $.35 Charmin Coupon that is linked to your KS shopping card.)!

The grapes are $1.oo/lb and a really big...and NOT that tasty...so I would pass. Strawberries are $1.98/lb (not a awesome price, but I grabbed a container) They looked really good...no bad or moldy ones in the containers.

$100 saved! Since July I have been keeping track of how many coupons and how much money I have saved using the coupons. I reached the $100 mark today! I average about $33 a month in coupon savings.

Coupon clipping takes practice. I feel like I use coupons wisely, buying things my family will really eat at the same time trying to keep a healthy balance of foods in my home. It seems like most coupons are for processed foods, so its easy to go overboard and have a lot of processed foods in your home because it is cheap. I have been a coupon clipper for 5 years, and I know I am better at using my coupons for my family needs then when I first started. You have to learn it is okay to pass up an amazing deal if its not something you usually buy or meets your family's diet.

I have also found that 90% of the coupons I use am able to match up with store sales to get the best deal. Sometimes (usually yogurt) I will use the coupon because I am buying the item now because we need it and can't wait for the store to put it on sale.

I have been keeping track of the coupons I have used over the last two months. Some shopping trips I use a lot and some trips I don't use any, but I am surprised of how it all adds up!

Since July 13, I have saved $72.52 using coupons!

Coupon clipping does take practice and discipline. Never use a coupon because its about to expire! Never use a coupon because its a great deal, but you won't really eat or use the item.
Try to match up coupons with store deals to maximize your savings!

If you print coupons off the computer make sure you only print coupons you are really going to use! Otherwise your not saving money, but spending money using up your paper and ink!

I will post weekly deals and a dinner menu tonight. Tonight for dinner I will use leftover turkey from Sunday to make a Pot Pie.

I have 2 different ways I make pot pie. Below is the quick recipe:
1. Mix leftover turkey (or chicken) and frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, green beans.) in a unbaked pie crust,
2. Pour gravy over pie, mixing slightly to get gravy to the bottom of pie. (2 chicken or turkey gravy packets)
3. Add top pie crust and remember to poke steam holes.
4. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

I paid $6.21 before tax on my groceries today! 5 boxes of cereal 2 (2 Cheerios and 3 Cinnamon Toast Crunch),

Saturday's Trip:

I went into Albertson's Saturday and was surprised to find:

Now until September 6 you can get a catalina (the coupon that prints out at the register) at Albertson's that is good for your next shopping order. You have to be 3, 4, or 5 boxes of Betty Crocker fruit snacks ($.79 on sale this week) and you get a catalina for $1.50, $2.50 or $3.50.

I had the $1.50 catalina from my Saturday shopping trip...and I add 2 coupons for Betty Crocker fruit snacks...I went in to get this amazing deal. I did do 2 transactions. 5 Fruit Snacks and 2 boxes of Cheerios (I also earned 20 box top rewards) I used 4 coupons and the before tax total was $3.55 and I received a $3.50 catalina off my next shopping trip. (Which just happened to be transaction #2). I bought milk and 3 boxes of cinnamon toast crunch used 2 coupons and the before tax total was $2.66.

Saturday's Shopping Trip:
Betty Crocker fruit snacks $.79 and I had a couple of coupons so the final price was $.39 for one box and $.54 for two boxes (plus earned a catalina for $1.50 off my next shopping trip!)

I did pick up General Mills Cereal 8 boxes for $1.00 each (using Internet and newspaper coupons $1.00 buy 2.)

Grapes were yummy too $.89/lb

I got this Promotional CD, ROCK OF AGES earlier this week and I had a good time singing along to some of my favorite classic Rock tunes! Although, the music isn't sung by the original artists, it was a delight to listen to--and it would be perfect road trip music, cleaning the house, or any other situation you may find yourself belting out to your favorite 80's tunes. After listening to the music I think it would be a very entertaining Broadway musical to attend.

Zuchini and Peppers stir-fry

Grandma's recipe
Cut all vegetables in match sticks.

3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 small onion
1 large red pepper
1 large or 2 small zucchini
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
1 pinch thyme (optional-I put it in)
salt and pepper to taste

Put oil in pan on medium heat.
Add garlic and herbs then add vegetables and stir to coat.
Stir-fry until vegetables are tender.

Green Chili Chowder

The original recipe came from my sister-in-law Andrea. This is a very to your taste kind of recipe so below is the way I make it.

5 small-medium white potatoes
3 Tbsp Chicken Bouillon
2 cans Evaporated Milk (or 1 can + 1 pt cream or half and half)
1-2 Chicken Breasts - sprinkle with seasoned salt before cooking and then shred or cubed
6-7 whole Green Chiles diced or to taste: add 3-4 for mild, 5-7 medium-hot
*can used 1 or 2 4-oz cans diced green chili

optional: serve with shredded cheddar cheese

I cook the chicken in the crock-pot with 1/4-1/2 C. water. Sprinkle the chicken generously with seasoned salt and cook on low 5-6 hours and then shred.

Scrub and cube potatoes, leaving skin on and place in large pot on stove. Put enough water in to barely cover potatoes and simmer until tender about 20-25 minutes.

Add bouillon 3 Tbsp. or more to taste, evaporated milk, cooked chicken, and green chili.

green chiles- for more heat leave the seeds and membranes with the green chili, remove completely for a milder soup.

variations: add 3 celery stalks sliced, boil with the potatoes

Cheese-Stuffed Jalapeno's

These jalapenos are from my garden. When I am not making salsa or have enough of a harvest to pickle and can the jalapenos--I love to make these tasty appetizers.

12 medium jalapeno peppers

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar or Colby Jack)

additional shredded cheese to sprinkle on top of filling
3/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

bacon cooked and crumbled

(I use Kirkland bacon bits, but can cook and crumble 2 bacon strips)

Wear disposable gloves and cut jalapenos lengthwise to make a shell. The cheese filling stays in better if you cut a small part of the pepper to make a shell, instead of cutting it into equal halves. I will save the jalapeno tops and put some filling on top for the chef to taste after baking!

Place peppers in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. Drain and rinse in cold water; set aside. The longer the peppers boil the milder they become.

In a small mixing bowl, beat cheeses and Worcestershire sauce until mixed.

Spoon filling into each jalapeno shell, remember the cheese will melt-so don't overfill or it will melt off jalapeno when warmed. Add a small amount of shredded cheese on top of cheese filling. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake 400 degrees 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon. Serve warm.

I heard Old Navy is doing the %50 of clearance price sale until Wednesday. I haven't checked it out yet, but this is one of my favorite times to buy shorts/shirts for my kids for the next summer.

I used my Milk coupons that I got last week at Albertson's. They gave me the full value of both coupons $4.50 or $9.00 even though the milk was $1.58!

I got a coupon for $1.50 off when you buy 3 General Mills Cereal from the printer when I was checking out. I was able to use this coupon with the current purchase. With coupon I got 3 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk for $3.17

I just updated the Costco price list. I put Costco prices in red to show off what I great deal I got! (You can get a great deal too even without coupons!)

To compare prices I always break it down to a single unit. i.e. Toilet Paper one package is 12 big rolls = to 24 single rolls and the package I am comparing to is 30 mega rolls = 75 single rolls. I use the 24 and 75 single rolls to compare prices.

For Paper towels I had the total sq. foot of each package to compare prices.

Tide liquid detergent 32 load - $3.99 ea. or .125 a load compare to Costco $.20 a load!
($4.99 without coupon, $.156 a load, or use coupon $1.00 PG 7-5)

Charmin Toilet Paper 12 mega rolls = 24 single rolls - $4.49 ea. or .187 a roll compare to Costco $.262 a roll!($4.99 without coupon, $.208 a roll, or use $.25 PG 7-5) My Safeway doubles which made the coupon worth $.50)

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I saved the pineapple juice to use in a marinade for flank steak that we will have Sunday.

Also, I used the leftover chicken broth as part of the water for the rice. I also cooked more rice than needed to make fried rice this weekend.

This makes 4-6 servings, depending on the amount of chicken. This is a good left over lunch recipe--just keep the chicken and rice separated, reheat separate and then combine.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

1 lb to 1.5 lbs Chicken breasts or tenders, cut into chunks
1 egg beaten
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
6 Tbsp. flour

8 oz canned pineapple chunks
(I usually have the 15 oz cans, so I serve the leftovers to my kids.)
1 red pepper, cut into pieces (tonight I used 1/2 red and 1/2 of an orange pepper.)

sauce:
3/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. white distilled vinegar
1/2 C. chicken broth
3 1/2 Tbsp. ketchup
1 Tbsp. soy sauce

Combine flour, garlic salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Take chicken pieces and mix with beaten egg, and then mix with flour mixture to cover pieces. Brown chicken in a fry pan with hot oil on medium-high heat. Place in 9 x 13 baking dish. Add 1/2 can of pineapple (reserve juice and freeze for another meal if desired.)

Heat all sauce ingredients and pour over chicken and pineapple. Cook uncovered 350 degrees 45 minutes. Add peppers last 15 minutes of bake time. Serve with rice.

Flank Steak Marinade

I love to use leftovers to make a Thai Beef Salad the next day. I will post pictures after I make this Sunday and the Thai Beef Salad on Monday.

Flank Steak Marinade
(Brooks' recipe)

equal parts (usually 1 cup each)
pineapple juice
brown sugar
soy sauce

mix together and marinate flank steak over night in the refrigerator. (at least 4 hours not more than 24 hours.) Turn flank steak over at least once, so all sides are well marinated.

Place on hot grill to sear on both sides, reduce heat and grill to taste.
Slice at an angle. Serve with rice and sauce.

Sauce:
Mix equal parts pineapple juice, brown sugar, and soy sauce in a sauce pan. Take out 1/4 c.-1/2 c. of sauce and add 2 Tbs. or more cornstarch and mix well. Bring to a boil saucepan to a boil and then add cornstarch/marinade mixture and mix well. Boil until thickened.

Thai Beef Salad

Thai Beef Salad

I usually make this with leftover flank steak or other steak. If using left overs you will want to reheat the meat so it is not refrigerator cold; just about room temperature.

If you want to start with fresh steak do this:
1 lb sirloin steak cut into strips
mix:
3 Tbs. soy sauce
3 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs. water
Pour marinade over meat. Marinate at least 30 minutes, no more than 24 hours.

Brown beef over high heat. Set aside.

Mix dressing:
1/4 C. soy sauce
1 Tbs. brown sugar
4 Tbs. rice vinegar
2 Tbs. lemon juice
2 tsp. sesame oil
1-2 garlic cloves-minced
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes

Cook linguine according to package directions
Lettuce - washed and torn into pieces
(desired amount--do you want this to be a lettuce salad with some linguine noodles or a noodle bowl with lots of linguine noodles and less lettuce? Excellent both ways!)

carrots washed and coarsely chopped
green onions thinly sliced

Combine beef, linguine, and lettuce, onion and carrots. Pour dressing on top and toss to coat. (You will not use all of the dressing.)

Zucchini Bread

makes 3 loaves

4 Eggs

1 cup Oil

3 cups Sugar

4 cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 tsp. Baking Soda

1 tsp. Salt

3 tsp. cinnamon

3 cups Zucchini, grated

3 tsp. Vanilla

1 cup chopped nuts

Beat together eggs, oil and sugar. Mix dry ingredients and add to wet ingredients, mix well. Add zucchini, nuts, and vanilla; mix. Bake in greased bread pans at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes. If you don't want nuts in all loaves just leave out and then mix in 1/3 cup nuts into each desired bread pan.

1 zucchini-medium cut into chunks

Drizzle olive oil in a frying pan and turn burner to medium heat

add:

garlic powder - 1/8 tsp

salt

mix in zucchini

add:

sesame seed oil - 1 tsp add more/less to taste

red pepper flakes - 1/4 tsp more/less to taste

toss to coat and cook

cook until tender 10-12 minutes (I think mine took more like 15 min.)

Most fruit and vegetables don't seem to be at a good price at the grocery stores this week. I am planning a Costco trip before Saturday to purchase most of my produce for the next week. The exception is cherries they are at the best price for the season, so if you like them now is the time to enjoy them!

Costco coupons...they do have some good coupon deals this week. I love to use the Electrasol tabs in my dishwasher until July 5, they are B1G1 free, which makes it canister of 100 about $7.50...tabs are a great price at $0.10 ea. so this would make them $0.075. Limit 4, but I am stocking up!

Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad

A delicious summer salad. My Husband's favorite, I will be making it for Father's Day.

Mix together:

1 head cauliflower, cut into bite size pieces
3 stalks broccoli, cut into bite size pieces
(You can double the broccoli and omit the cauliflower)

1/4 chopped purple onion (good with yellow onion too.)
1 C. shredded Mozzarella or Colby Jack cheese

In a separate bowl, mix:
2 C. mayonnaise
1/4 C. sugar
1/4 C. Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp. salt
2 T. vinegar or cider vinegar

Pour sauce over vegetables and mix, chill for a few hours before serving. Stir in 12 oz bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled just before serving. (I use store bought bacon bits 1/4-1/2 cup.)
